Your Initial Contact
Regardless of the the firm attorney you engage, you can be assured that you will be well represented. After making this decision, you will speak by phone with the legal assistant of the attorney you wish to consult. The legal assistant will inquire as to your needs and establish an appointment for you to meet with your attorney. Our paralegal staff will assist you in preparing for your first appointment.
When you arrive at our office, you will be asked to fill out a Client Initial Information Form, which can be sent to you in advance if you choose. You will then meet with your attorney for an initial consultation, which will usually last an hour and a half. During the meeting, the attorney will listen to you, will obtain history, and provide you with an understanding of Maryland Family Law as it affects you — and answer your questions.
If you wish to proceed with the matter, your attorney will quote an engagement fee and provide you with a copy of an Engagement Agreement. All legal services, including the initial consultation, are billed at an hourly rate which varies depending upon the lawyer you see. Your case will then be carefully handled by your attorney to its resolution.
