Attorney Bio:

Nicolas Orechwa joined the firm in 2006 as an Associate, bringing litigation and trial experience in matters of domestic violence and child abuse. Mr. Orechwa is licensed to practice law in Maryland, Louisiana, and the District of Columbia.

Born in Joliet, Illinois, Mr. Orechwa received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa in 1997 and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2001. Following his graduation, he served as a prosecutor in the New Orleans District Attorney's Office where, over the course of three years, he tried over 30 jury trials, many of which involved cases of domestic violence and child abuse. He then worked as a contractor with the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Defense and later, the Central Legal Staff of the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals in Washington D.C.


Professional Activities & Certifications
  • Completed 40 hours of Mediation Training and is certified to mediate in Maryland. Member of the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence and is provisionally approved as a Volunteer Mediator/Facilitator with District Court.
  • Member of the Family Law and Litigation Sections of the Maryland State Bar Association and is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association where he participates in the Family Law Section
  • Has contributed case notes to the MSBA Family Law Section's publication Family Law News
  • Pro Bono mentor for volunteer attorneys with the Catholic Charities Legal Network
  • Served as a Co-Chair of the Court Evaluator Mentor Program
  • Named a "Rising Star" in Maryland SuperLawyers publication
