Mr. Brodsky was joined by Jeffrey N. Greenblatt in 1973 and Bryan Renehan in 1977. BGR&P has emerged as one of the largest and most renowned Family Law practices with the addition of partners, Brian K. Pearlstein and Carlos M. Lastra, and joined by associates, Kristina Badalian, Anne E. Grover, Nick Orechwa, Erin L. Kopelman and Heather R. Sweren. Jeffrey N. Greenblatt is highly recognized in the practice of Family Law. He's been named by Washingtonian magazine as one of the area's top divorce lawyers for more than 19 years and recognized by the Maryland and District of Columbia Super Lawyers publications as one of the top Family Law attorneys in the metropolitan area. Licensed to practice in both Maryland and the District of Columbia, Mr. Greenblatt is also well known as an instructor and organizational leader for the Montgomery County Bar Association in the area of Family Law. His chairmanships include the Montgomery County Bar Association's Family Law Section, the Montgomery County Property & Alimony Committee, and the Subcommittee for the Task Force on Spousal Abuse. He was appointed by Governor Mandell to the Foster Care Review Board and has served on the Governor's Committee on Inequities & Disparities in Divorce.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Greenblatt has analyzed and chronicled all Maryland Family Law appellate decisions by producing the Family Law Update. The Family Law Update is offered, annually, as a seminar to the Montgomery County Bar Association and the published case analysis is distributed to all Judges and Family Law Masters sitting in Montgomery, Prince George's and Frederick counties.
Mr. Greenblatt received his Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University's School of Speech and Drama in 1969, followed by his Juris Doctorate from American University's Washington College of Law in 1973. He joined the firm in 1972 as a law clerk. Personally trained by Jackson Brodsky, the dean of Montgomery County Family Law, Mr. Greenblatt was named Partner in 1976 and served as the firm's Managing Partner from 1980 until 2007.

Bryan Renehan

Bryan Renehan is an "AV" rated attorney by Martindale Hubble for excellence in the practice of law as distinguished by members of the area Bar and Judiciary. He is recognized by the Maryland and District of Columbia Super Lawyers publications as one of the top Maryland metropolitan area Family Law attorneys. Mr. Renehan has, since the early 1990s, been consistently named by Washingtonian magazine as one of the area's "Best Divorce Attorneys." There he was editorialized as receiving "accolades from clients and colleagues alike for being one of the most organized and professional divorce lawyers in Washington." He is also recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America in the 2010 edition of this publication.
A tech-savvy specialist in complicated cases, Mr. Renehan is a frequent lecturer for the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers, Inc. (MICPEL) on Family Law. He instructs the Maryland Family Law Update course annually and updates the Maryland Divorce and Separation Law Manual's chapter on Pleadings and Litigation Tactics in Domestic Cases, for MICPEL. Mr. Renehan has chaired the Family Law Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association as well as the Family Law Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association. He was the President of the Montgomery Inn of Court in 2004-2005.
Bryan Renehan obtained his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in 1976. After serving a judicial clerkship in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, he joined the firm of Brodsky and Greenblatt in 1977. He was named Partner in 1980.

Brian K. Pearlstein

Brian K. Pearlstein has been named by the Maryland and District of Columbia Super Lawyers publications as one of the top Maryland metropolitan area Family Law attorneys. Mr. Pearlstein is recognized for his ability to respond to the needs of both demanding clients and cases involving complex litigation. He has successfully handled an array of cases related to complicated assets, valuation of businesses and professional practices, real estate holdings, stocks, property disputes, as well as the difficult issues associated with alimony, child support, custody, and modification of the same. Mr. Pearlstein also has an extensive knowledge of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements, mediation, and domestic violence. He is equally experienced in settlements, endeavoring to resolve each case in the manner that best serves his clients.
Mr. Pearlstein is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth District, and the United States District Court for both Maryland and the District of Columbia. He litigates in Montgomery, Frederick, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Prince George's counties. Mr. Pearlstein has argued appellate cases before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Pearlstein received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1988, and his Doctorate degree from American University's Washington College of Law in 1991. He joined the firm in 1995, bringing a wealth of experiences from prior practice with a Washington, D.C. law firm in areas of domestic relations, civil, commercial, and criminal litigation. He was named a Partner in 2001 and became the managing partner of the firm in 2007.
Mr. Pearlstein is an active member of the Family Law and Litigation Sections of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the District of Columbia, and the American Bar Association. He contributes his time to the Women's Law Center's Family Law Hotline and is a guest lecturer for the Women's Commission. In addition, he is a contributing editor for the 9th edition of MICPEL's Maryland Divorce and Separation Law Manual. Mr. Pearlstein also serves on the Johns Hopkins Children's Center Corporate Advisory Board.

Carlos M. Lastra

Carlos M. Lastra is a highly effective trial lawyer whose experience has earned him such recognitions as being named a top "Divorce Attorney" in Washingtonian magazine and in Marquis' Who's Who in American Law.
Mr. Lastra joined BGR&P in 2000 and was named a Partner in 2007. Since joining the firm, he has litigated divorce, alimony, custody, child support, paternity, and property distribution cases; contempt/enforcement actions, modification actions, and domestic violence cases in Montgomery, Frederick, Howard, Prince George's, and Anne Arundel counties as well as the District of Columbia. He has negotiated and tried cases involving high net worth individuals and complex domestic relations issues and also handles Collaborative Family Law cases.
Mr. Lastra is licensed to practice law in Maryland, Florida and the District of Columbia, as well the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Southern District and Middle District of Florida.
Mr. Lastra has served as Co-Chair of the Family Law Section for the Montgomery County Bar Association, a Barrister in the Montgomery Inn of Court, and is a member of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association for the District of Columbia.
Mr. Lastra has presented programs on handling domestic violence cases for the Bar and also edited Pleading and Litigation Tactics in Domestic Cases for the 9th edition of MICPEL's Maryland Divorce and Separation Law Manual, used by lawyers statewide.
Prior to joining BGR&P, Mr. Lastra operated his own practice in Miami, Florida, focusing primarily on criminal defense and personal injury matters. He was previously a Special Assistant Public Defender for the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office.
In addition to his legal expertise, he is fluent in Spanish. Raised in Miami, Florida, he received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami in 1989; and in 1992, he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Miami School of Law. While in law school, he was a Certified Legal Intern, prosecuting felony cases for the Law Offices of Janet Reno, Miami-Dade State's Attorney. Mr. Lastra also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Leonard M. Rivikind.
